This is a comprehensive overview of child maltreatment to provide education on the identification of child maltreatment, recognition of sentinel injuries of abuse, and tools for EMS providers caring for patients of suspected child physical abuse. This talk was created by Dr. Chris Daly, Chief Resident Pediatrics at Vanderbilt, and Dr. Heather Williams of the Vanderbilt Child Maltreatment team in collaboration with Lee Blair and Jennifer Dindo of the Department of Pediatric Emergency Services at the Monroe Carell Jr Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with the goal of furthering child abuse education for EMS providers.
